Community ADS-B Network

Your aircraft traffic.
Your own station.

Build a local ADS-B receiver, see aircraft around you on your own live tar1090 map, and join the AircraftTraffic community network only if you want to.

Local value first. Sharing is optional.

AircraftTraffic is designed around a simple idea: your receiver should be useful to you even if you never send a single message to a central server.

01

Build a receiver

Use a 1090 MHz antenna, SDR and Raspberry Pi to receive ADS-B aircraft transmissions in your area.

02

View your own radar

readsb decodes the traffic and tar1090 gives you a fast live map on your own local network.

03

Join if you want

An optional outbound feed can contribute your station's aircraft data to a shared community map.

The station is intentionally simple.

A practical 1090 MHz receiver does not need to be a complicated project.

tar1090 Your live aircraft map

Your local map remains yours.

The AircraftTraffic concept does not depend on a cloud connection.

✓

Works on your local network

Open your tar1090 page from a phone, tablet or computer connected to your station network.

✓

No shared network required

Your station can remain a completely local aircraft viewer.

✓

Sharing can be added later

If you decide to contribute, the station can send an outbound feed without exposing your Pi publicly.

Many local stations can become one community view.

When station owners choose to join, AircraftTraffic can combine coverage from multiple receivers while each station keeps its own local tar1090.

Shared aircraft map

See traffic collected by participating stations across the community coverage area.

Station coverage

Show how far each receiver is hearing aircraft and how the network grows over time.

Station statistics

Keep simple visibility of station activity, received aircraft and network contribution.

AircraftTraffic is being built from real stations first.

The first goal is not to build another global flight-tracking service. It is to make it easy for people to build a useful local ADS-B receiver, understand what they are receiving, and optionally connect with nearby stations.
